ADA offers their congratulation to Neil Parish MP, and an ADA Vice President, who has been re-elected as Chair of the EFRA Select Committee following voting for the position on 12th July. Neil is keen to continue the role with his EFRA colleagues in holding government to account on matters of food, farming, drainage, water level and flood risk management. Neil’s view is very much about select committees rising to the challenge of scrutinising ministers and informing government policy during one of the most important sessions of parliament of our lifetime. ADA has in the past provided important evidence to the Committee on a variety of matters and will continue to offer their advice to Neil and the rest of his Committee. Neil is keen to see first-hand the significance of public sector co-operation at a local level through the various agreements in place across IDBs, the EA and Local Authorities as well as exploring the advantages of the strategic and considered transfer of operational activities between the EA and IDBs where there is an identified local benefit and desire for that to happen. ADA look forward to assisting Neil and the EFRA Committee with their future work.
