ADA responds to flood resilience in England inquiry

Consultation Flood resilience in England
By House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee
Closed 13 January 2025
Summary This inquiry on flood resilience in England, focuses on how flood resilience can be strengthened in response to increasing risks from extreme weather, rising sea levels, and evolving flood hazards.

ADA provided an extensive and wide-rangeing response to this inquiry. ADA’s primary concern remains with the maintenance of existing flood resilience assets and systems across England, including the condition of main river assets and flood embankments in lowland areas. ADA’s members remain concerned that the Environment Agency is significantly under resourced to adequately maintain these assets and keep them within a good condition.

ADA’s response was published by the Committee on 08 March 2025. Parliamentary rules mean that ADA has not published its response prior to this release.
