ADA is seeking candidates interested in joining the ADA Policy Commitee in 2025. The ADA Policy Committee guides ADA on all matters related to our members’ flood and water level management policy and delivery. Becoming a Committee Member offers an opportunity to help steer and contribute to ADA’s work championing and campaigning for the sustainable delivery of water level management. They provide guidance, advice and support to our members across the UK, and help us inform the general public about our members’ essential work.
A role on an ADA Committee can help with your own personal development, and provides excellent opportunities to gain a broader understanding of flood and water management policy matters. We are working collaboratively to bolster the UK’s resilience to flooding in challenging and interesting times and a new member needs to be committed to over the term.
The ADA Policy Committee guides ADA on all matters related to flood and water level management policy and delivery. Covering the work of ADA’s members, including, but not limited to, the following matters: technical and engineering, environment, development and planning, professional, financial, governance, health, safety, and welfare.
The Committee scrutinises topics that impact ADA’s members and researches and develops policy proposals accordingly. Developing, prioritising, reviewing, and recommending actions and outcomes to ADA and our members on any issues and policies requiring a consistent and national approach across all or parts of ADA’s membership.
The Committee is responsible for determining policy priorities for ADA and setting its annual work programme to address these.
The Policy Committee meets three times a year, typically in London (or virtually if required) and reasonable travel expenses to attend are paid by ADA.

Members on the committee serve terms of three years. In 2025 we have several vacancies to be filled by candidates from across ADA’s membership. We are always on the lookout for a range of skills.

Nominations will be reviewed by the Chairs of both ADA Committees, ADA’s Chair, and Chief Executive in February 2025 and successful candidates will be informed before the end of that month.
