We are grateful to have had Robert Caudwell OBE as ADA’s Chair since 2017. Robert’s current, and final, term comes to an end in December 2026. With this in mind, ADA is commencing the process of finding and appointing a successor, who will initially become ADA’s Deputy Chair in November/December 2025 with a mandate from ADA’s Board of Director’s to succeed Robert in the following year.
We are seeking somebody who will be an ambassador for both the Association and the wider flood and water management sector, promoting the importance of water level management, and expanding public interest in the field and the work of our members.
Our Chair has a highly visible role, working closely with the Chief Executive, to drive forward the Association and engage positively with our members and externally with Government bodies and key stakeholders. The person we are seeking should therefore be comfortable building relationships, can influence and negotiate with others on a senior level, and command respect across the political and business spectrum.
ADA’s Deputy Chair will commit on average two to three days per month for the attendance of ADA meetings both nationally and through our branches, as well as meetings and events organised by our members and stakeholder engagement meetings. The role of Deputy Chair is voluntary and reasonable expenses are covered for travel throughout the UK and, at times, further afar. Once appointed as Chair, the person would then receive a modest annual salary from ADA.
ADA will be advertising the role nationally, with a closing date of Friday 28 February 2025. Full details can be found at www.ada.org.uk/vacancies. To apply please submit a covering statement under 500 words expressing your interest and suitability for the role with your CV, to innes.thomson@ada.org.uk. Shortlisting will be completed by 31 March 2025, with interviews expected to take place in early Summer 2025.
